Reducing Injury Increasing Performance

10th, Aug 2015

Learn the secrets of Manchester United’s success from the man who helped power the legendary team to league supremacy for more than a decade at a special event in Belfast next month.

Learn the secrets of Manchester United’s success from the man who helped power the legendary team to league supremacy for more than a decade at a special event in Belfast next month.

Mick Clegg worked with the side from 2001 to 2011 and has trained legendary international footballers like Roy Keane, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.

He said: “I have owned my own gym for 30 years and in that time have specialised in training all sports participants, from young children upwards, using modern techniques and equipment to give athletes that extra edge to be the best they can be.”

Clegg will be joined as a key speaker by star coach Mickey McGurn, who is the brain behind the ‘Reducing Injury, Increasing Performance’ seminar, which is supported by the National Sports Clinic at Kingsbridge Private Hospital, Belfast, and delivered by 3fivetwo Training Academy in partnership with the Irish News.

It is the first event of its kind here and is aimed at sports coaches, physiotherapists, personal trainers and team physicians from across the island.

McGurn has worked with Paul O’Connell, the British and Irish Lions Captain, rugby superstar Brian O’Driscoll, Donegal captain Michael Murphy and Ireland GAA Captain, and world super bantamweight champion Bernard Dunne.

He said: “There are a lot of myths and fads out there. Any successful person, in any walk of life, relies upon two essential ingredients: hard work and good advice. The world of sport is no different.  My aim is to use these ingredients to create winners.”

They will be joined at the seminar by guest speaker Dr Neil Heron of the National Sports Clinic. Dr Heron is at the forefront of his speciality in the UK and beyond and has worked with Linfield FC and Northern Ireland international football teams.

“Most injuries – for example, those sustained through over-training and/or training in the wrong way – are entirely preventable,” said Dr Heron. “Intense training is far less important than smart and specific training when it comes to avoiding physical damage and building up strength and stamina.”

The speakers will address current sports injuries and treatments, effective use of conditioning and strength, identify strategies to prevent injury, review current research and explain the concept of ‘Seed of Speed’.

Tickets for the event, which will be held from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on 23rd September at Riddell Hall, 185 Stranmillis Road, Belfast cost £35 (+VAT) and can be purchased by clicking HERE telephoning 028 9073 5273 or emailing trainingacademy@3fivetwo.com.

This is a Management of Sport Injuries CIPD Approved Event.  Visit www.3fivetwotraining.com for more information on a range of medical and sports training courses.
