Miss Serena Martin is a fully accredited plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon and is on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register for plastic surgery. She holds the FRCS (Plast) qualification as well as a certificate of completion of specialist training in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in England.

Miss Martin graduated top of her year from Queens University medical school, being awarded the medical distinction prize for achieving a distinction at all phases of the medical curriculum, along with the Sinclair medal, for the best performance in surgery. Throughout her medical degree she was awarded twenty-one prizes, medals and scholarships for her performance.

Miss Martin undertook the majority of her plastic surgery training in Northern Ireland and during this time she held the position of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) representative for PLASTA and focused on optimising access to, and training in, aesthetic surgery. During her tenure she developed and ran the very successful BAAPS/PLASTA aesthetic webinar series which covered all aspects of aesthetic surgery and received viewers from across the globe. In addition to aesthetic surgery, she also developed a passion for cleft surgery and she regularly travels overseas to Pakistan with the Overseas Plastic Surgery Appeal charity.

To further develop her clinical expertise Miss Martin undertook three specialist fellowships. This included a cleft lip and palate fellowship at the prestigious John Radcliffe hospital, part of the Oxford University Trust. She then completed a specialist fellowship in paediatric burns and plastic surgery at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Subsequently, she obtained a highly sought after Aesthetic mentorship through BAAPS. This gave her the opportunity to be trained by leading aesthetic surgeons in the UK, both the president and president-elect of BAAPS, at Purity Bridge in Royal Tunbridge-Wells. This dedicated period of aesthetic surgery provided further insight into all areas of aesthetic surgery of the face, breasts and body including labiaplasty. Gaining expertise of the latest techniques of facial aesthetic surgery was a key aspect of the mentorship programme and included; the deep plane face and open neck lift, deep plane lip lift and the gliding brow lift.

Miss Martin has an impressive CV with a total of seventy-five national and international presentations delivered around the world at a number of prestigious meetings. Her other research achievements include author of a textbook chapter on cleft palate repair and forty peer reviewed publications in a range of national and international journals, including several specific to aesthetic surgery. On top of her list of undergraduate prizes, medals and scholarships she has also been awarded eight prizes and medals during her surgical training. This includes the prestigious Barron Prize awarded by BAPRAS and the Arnold Huddard Medal from the CFSGBI.

Miss Martin is a caring and compassionate surgeon known for her exceptional attention to detail and she will always strive to obtain the best functional and aesthetic outcome for all of her patients. Each patient under her care is provided with an exclusive and customised treatment plan ensuring optimal outcomes based on the specific needs pertaining to each patient, utilising both surgical and non-surgical techniques.
