Dr Patrick Campbell is a Consultant gynaecologist and subspecialist urogynaecologist working in the Belfast Trust, and is an expert in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders.
He is the only consultant in Northern Ireland who can offer vaginal surgery, ‘key-hole’ surgery and non-surgical radiofrequency treatments to improve prolapse, urinary incontinence, vaginal laxity and sexual function after childbirth.
His areas of expertise include: Urinary incontinence; Vaginal prolapse; Vaginal laxity; Bladder problems (overactive bladder, bladder pain syndrome);Vaginal problems after childbirth (scarring, painful sex)
Dr Campbell graduated from The Queen’s University of Belfast in 2006.
He trained in Northern Ireland for 10 years followed by 2 years subspecialty training in urogynaecology with Professor Stephen Radley in Sheffield. He was the second consultant in the UK to complete accredited training in both vaginal surgery and laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery for prolapse.
He is a member of both the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and The Royal College of Surgeons. Dr Campbell has held committee positions with the International Urogynaecology Association and British Society of Urogynaecology.
He is a Senior Member of the European Society of Aesthetic Gynaecology and the Treasurer of the Ulster Gynae Urology Society. He is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences.

Dr Campbell is actively involved in research and is a lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast. He was the first gynaecologist in Northern Ireland to be offered an Academic Clinical Fellowship at Queen’s University and spent 2 years researching the use of Botox in the treatment of overactive bladder.
He has presented his research nationally and internationally and in 2018 he has published 3 important articles in peer-reviewed journals; a review article on vaginal mesh, a review article on vaginal laxity and the largest ever research study on vaginal laxity.
Dr Campbell has helped develop The Pelvic Health Clinic at Cosmetech, Northern Ireland’s first private multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals offering women a comprehensive range of treatment options for pelvic floor problems. Dr Campbell often combines his expertise with other specialists, including pelvic floor physiotherapist Sinead Boyle, to help women achieve their treatment goals. “Women are talking more openly about pelvic floor problems than ever before which is raising awareness of the many successful treatment options available.
