I qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 1998. I trained primarily in Northern Ireland with time also at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. I became a Cardiology Consultant in 2009. I am clinical lead for Cardiology in the Northern Trust. I am presently a council member for the Irish Cardiac Society.
All common cardiac conditions such as chest pain/angina, shortness of breath, palpitations/heart rhythm disorders, inherited and familial conditions, and cardiac causes of loss of consciousness.
I subspecialise in cardiac imaging including dye tests (cardiac catheterisation), cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography), nuclear dye tests (MPI), cardiac MRI.
Based in Antrim Area Hospital with 1 session per week in the Royal Victoria Hospital performing dye tests (cardiac catheterisations) and 1 session in the Mater Hospital performing cardiac MRI scans.
I am married and am fortunate to have 2 children (twins!).
I have always been keen on sport throughout my life until now, mostly soccer and athletics. I still run regularly and compete in local races and have even run for Northern Ireland in the masters category (people who are old enough to know better, but don’t!).
I’m naturally an outgoing person and meet up with friends and family regularly and attend as many music concerts as I can.
